The Observatory Hotel Wins 2016 Tourism Award

Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams has congratulated Chris and Trish Denny from The Observatory Hotel in Port Macquarie on their outstanding achievements at the 2016 NSW Tourism Awards held in Sydney at Luna Park last night.

Mrs Williams said The Observatory Hotel was the NSW Tourism Award winner in the Deluxe Accommodation category.

“The win represents the hard work and diversity delivered by one of the country’s most important industries.

“Our region has so much on offer for domestic and international visitors and I am delighted that our wonderful tourism products were recognised at this year’s NSW Tourism Awards.

“This is a true testament to the quality of products and experiences that are produced in our region that continuously draw people back year after year,”
Mrs Williams said.

NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the NSW Tourism Awards highlight how the State’s finest tourism operators continue to attract people to stay, play and enjoy areas across the state.

“This year’s NSW Tourism Award winners represent individuals and businesses whose commitment to excellence continues to make NSW the number one destination to visit in Australia,” Mr Ayres said.

“Together they have helped us grow the value of NSW tourism – which reaped $25.5 billion in visitor expenditure for our State last year. Our top notch industry also helped NSW attract 32.5 million overnight visitors, who stayed 180 million nights.

Managed by the Tourism Industry Division of the NSW Business Chamber and supported by Destination NSW, the 2016 NSW Tourism Awards are made up of 28 categories, including Major Tourist Attractions, Festivals and Events, Destination Marketing and Accommodation.
