“Chris and Trish Denny won the Small Business Sustainability Award for The Observatory Hotel in Port Macquarie.

“The Observatory also won the Premier's Award for Environmental Excellence in one of three of the Green Globe Awards that are chosen by the judging panel.

“This award is presented to the most outstanding nomination from the 2014 award categories, as decided by the judging panel.

“The Premier’s Award recipient is chosen for “exemplary leadership, vision and innovation demonstrating a particular determination in overcoming obstacles to deliver successful outcomes,” Mrs Williams said.

“The Observatory won the Premier’s Award for Environmental Excellence for their range of resource saving initiatives and environmental engagement with hotel guests.

“The work of Chris and Trish Denny shows us the individual and economic benefits of creating a dynamic environment,” Mrs Williams said.

NSW Environment Minister Rob Stokes congratulated the winners from all 19 award categories and said that the Green Globe Awards provide inspiration for creating a stronger triple bottom line, with happier staff and customers, a healthier environment, and increased financial returns.

“The winners demonstrate the leadership of regional businesses, local governments and individuals in developing innovative energy efficiency, clean energy and habitat protection projects that can be replicated across the State.”
