Support Small Business This Christmas

Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams is encouraging people to support local businesses and buy local this Christmas.

“In the last nine shopping days till Christmas we all get bombarded with advertising from many multi-national companies urging us to go online for greater bargains, but what we should be doing is supporting our own local businesses,” Mrs Williams.

“Small business employs the majority of workers so it makes good sense to ensure that we support them when purchasing presents and goods for Christmas.

“It is pretty simple, if we buy local we are doing what we can to make sure local people stay employed so we are actually investing in our region’s future.

“There are thousands of local businesses on the Mid North Coast so they should be able to supply anything that the major metropolitan shops or online retailers can.

“When people buy locally, the money stays in our area which is great for our local economy,” Mrs Williams.

“Small business is the backbone of the economy and our local retailers deserve our support.

“This Christmas, think local before buying, the savings you make may well be a local job,” Mrs Williams said.
