Port Macquarie Community Invited To Have Their Say
The Port Macquarie community is being invited to provide input into the future direction of Crown foreshore reserves from Settlement Point to Town Beach, Minister for Natural Resources Lands and Water Kevin Humphries said today.
Mr Humphries said the revised draft Plan of Management (PoM) for Hastings Regional Crown Reserve Precinct ‘A’ – which incorporates areas such as Port Macquarie Marina, Town Beach Reserve and Beach Green - provides clear direction for the future management of this important and popular public reserve.
“Every year tens of thousands of visitors from across Australia and the world flock to Port Macquarie to enjoy the incredible beaches, parks and reserves contained within the Port Macquarie foreshore,” Mr Humphries said.
“The improvements that will be made to the area as part of the Plan of Management will further enhance Port Macquarie’s reputation as one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations and provide increased amenities for local residents.
“It is vital that the community has their say on the strategic direction of this important precinct and I would encourage people to provide input into this plan.”
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said the draft PoM sets out a vision that will enhance the social, economic and tourism outcomes for the region.
“The changes that will occur under the Plan of Management are designed to improve what people already love about the Port Macquarie foreshore and will ultimately result in more people visiting the area every year,” Mrs Williams said.
“The foreshore is an important community asset for Port Macquarie and the PoM will complement other planning strategies developed by Council and supported by the community.”
