NSW Boating Now A Great Win For Port Macquarie Electorate
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams is encouraging the keen boaters and maritime stakeholders in the area to provide feedback as part of the NSW Government’s new program to improve infrastructure for our waterways.
Mrs Williams welcomed the tripling in funding from what was formerly the Better Boating Program.
“The new program called NSW Boating Now will make $14 million available every year for the next five years to help ensure our waterways are safe and accessible for everyone to enjoy,” Mrs Williams said.
“This is a fantastic investment in the future of recreational boating in our community.
“Over the past couple of years we have seen major improvements to waterways infrastructure including boat ramp upgrades at Westport Park in Port Macquarie, North Haven and Harrington, but there is always more to be done,” Mrs Williams said.
“We’d like to hear the views of the people who use these waterways the most, to help ensure the projects delivered through NSW Boating Now provide the most benefit to the boating experience in NSW.
“As part of the Mid North Coast regional boating plan the NSW Government will allocate new funds to deliver boating infrastructure and projects.
“These are being developed in consultation with Councils, boating stakeholders and waterway users in each region.”
“This is just one of the many innovative strategies the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government is rolling out as part of its commitment to delivering better boating facilities right across the state,” Mrs Williams said.
