Local Community Groups Benefit From One Million Dollars In Grants

The Port Macquarie electorate is set to receive another $300,000 funding from the 2013 Community Building Partnership program.

Local Nationals MP, Leslie Williams today urged community organisations and local councils to consider applying for funding.

Applications will open on the Wednesday 19th June 2013.

"This program is a fantastic way to improve vital community infrastructure and facilities and will bring to a total of $1 million on local community programs in the past two years," Mrs Williams said.

"I speak with many community groups, sporting organisations and charities seeking funding grants so I am pleased that applications are now open.

“In April, Treasurer Mike Baird and I presented cheques to 20 local groups who successfully applied for the last round of Community Building Partnership grants.

“Those grants are currently being used for projects such as new toilet facilities and playground at Bonny Hills Hall Reserve, a replacement roof for the amenities building at the Kendall Dragon Boat Club, an upgrade of the U3A premises at St Agnes Lodge to provide educational and social facilities for seniors and the construction of a pathway and viewing platform at the Tacking Point Lighthouse.

"The objective of the program is to improve social, environmental and recreational services or activities in our community," Mrs Williams said.

"Projects that can demonstrate a flow on of local jobs and community participation would be considered eligible for funding.

"The Community Building Partnerships program is about helping communities move essential projects forward and improve the provision of local services.

“The NSW Government is getting on with the job if rebuilding NSW by delivering record state funded infrastructure,” Mrs Williams said.

"I encourage people to go online and lodge an application at www.communitybuildingpartnership.nsw.gov.au. If anyone requires further information or assistance with their applications, please don't hesitate to contact my office.

"It is important that groups get to work to lodge their applications before the cut off date of 31st July 2013," Mrs Williams said.
