Helping Endeavour Clubhouse
Future options for the Endeavour Clubhouse in Port Macquarie have been raised today with the Minister for Mental Health, Jai Rowell.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams met with Minister Rowell at Parliament House to identify what the best options are for the mental health facility which is seeking operational funding.
“The Minister fully understands the frustrations of the Endeavour Clubhouse Committee wanting to offer mental health services at the facility,” Mrs Williams said.
“There are a range of measures that can be implemented to fund the service, whether they be co-funded through the Local Health District or developing partnerships working with non-government service providers to operate from the building.
“This is a model that has been successfully adopted by other Clubhouses in NSW.
“I have asked Minister Rowell to look at the best options to ensure the service has every opportunity to become successful.
“Two weeks ago I inspected the Billabong Clubhouse at Tamworth and next week I will visit the Pioneer Clubhouse at Balgowlah on the Northern Beaches of Sydney to find out how those services are funded,” Mrs Williams said.
“On Friday I am also meeting with Endeavour Clubhouse Committee members to see where they are up to in finding a non-government agency to partner with from the Hastings River Drive building.
“The Endeavour Clubhouse is a great opportunity to assist people with mental health needs in our area and I am determined to help the Committee to achieve the best possible outcome for our local community,” Mrs Williams said.
