Grant For Floodplain Management

Grant For Floodplain Management

Port Macquarie Hastings Council has received a $326,667 NSW Government Floodplain Management grant to help introduce measures to prepare Port Macquarie for flooding, Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams MP announced today.

Mrs Williams said the grant was part of $4.59 million in grants to 43 successful projects under the NSW Government Floodplain Management Program.

“This grant will help the Council address flood risks and the community prepare for possible flooding,” Mrs Williams said.

The Council received the funding grant for the Boundary Street flood access design and the North Brother Local Catchments Flood study.

Environment Minister Mark Speakman said the grant program aimed to reduce the impacts of flooding and flood liability.

“This funding for councils is another way the NSW Government is able to support communities to prepare for extreme weather events well in advance of them occurring,” Mr Speakman said.

“This funding is specifically for projects that assess the risks and reduce the impacts of flooding in NSW.”
