Celebrating Six Months Of Improved Service For Port Macquarie

Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams today announced close to 40,000 customers had been served in just six months since the launch of Service NSW in Port Macquarie with customers overwhelmingly positive about the new service.

“Customers have embraced the new service and we are delivering on our promise for easier access to government services, shorter waiting times and a single point of contact,” Mrs Williams said.

“Since Service NSW opened in Port Macquarie on 22 November last year, close to 40,000 customers have walked through the doors of the new service centre and I am extremely pleased with the new services now offered to the community.”

“At the ‘One Stop Shops’ customers can complete more than 850 transactions all in the one location – making it much easier to renew a driver licence, get an owner builder permit, register a boat or apply for a birth certificate.

“Service NSW has simplified the way people do business with the NSW Government – not only at the new ‘One Stop Shops’ but also with the new 24/7 phone line and online service,” Mrs Williams said.

“Customers from Port Macquarie and surrounding areas can now go online, call or visit Service NSW for a wide range of transactions.

“The centre located at the site of the old motor registry at Central Road is open from 7am to 7pm during the week and between 8.30am and 3pm on Saturdays - making it easier for people to do their business with the NSW Government before or after work or on the weekend.People can also make appointments to come into ‘One Stop Shops’ at a time that suits them,” Mrs Williams said.

Service NSW centre manager Peter Dawson said Service NSW was designed with customer input to improve the experience.

“Our journey has only just begun and we have been using feedback from local communities to provide even better services to customers,” Mr Dawson said.

“We’ve been really pleased with the positive feedback we have been getting from across NSW and in Port Macquarie our team members are very proud of the difference they are making for the community.

“With reduced waiting times of less than five minutes, customers come and go quickly and are taking advantage of the extended hours. We get a lot of positive feedback about the new services we provide, and we have a fantastic team of customer service representatives who are part of the local community and passionate about delivering great customer service,” Mr Dawson said.
