Celebrate Local Schools In Education Week 2017
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams today said Education Week is an important time to recognise the valuable contribution of local public schools.
Mrs Williams said this year’s Education Week is running from today until Friday 4th August.
“Education Week is the time for us all to celebrate the achievements of public schools, their students, staff and school communities,” Mrs Williams said.
“Education Week started in 1954 with the theme ‘lighting the way to a better world’. This week’s theme for Education Week is ‘I Learn, We Learn.’
“Let’s use this week as an opportunity to take a closer look at the valuable contribution schools make to our young people and community and to celebrate and praise their work,” Mrs Williams said.
“I have been to all of the schools in the Port Macquarie electorate and have a great working relationship with local teachers and principals as well as with the Port Macquarie Branch of the Teachers Association.
“Our public school teachers do an amazing job and being able to work together cooperatively benefits our young people and the wider school community.
“I encourage all members of the community to get involved in the Education Week celebrations at your school and discover the fantastic work being done by our local teachers and students,” Mrs Williams said.
